What's likely causing it
- Circuit overload β too many devices on one circuit
- Faulty appliance leaking current to earth
- Worn or faulty RCD (safety switch)
- Damaged or aged wiring with insulation failure
- Loose connection at outlet, switch or switchboard
- Moisture in outdoor outlets or roof-space wiring
What you can do right now
- Unplug everything on the affected circuit, then plug back in one at a time to find the cause
- If the breaker trips with nothing plugged in, do not reset it repeatedly β call an electrician
- If you smell burning at the switchboard, switch off the main and call us immediately
